“When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”…I love that saying. We had one of those experiences last weekend when we took the boat to Lake Roosevelt. Everything that could go wrong did. First the water levels at the lake were so high that all the beaches that usually pepper the coastline had disappeared underwater, leaving nowhere to beach the boat. So we wandered around for awhile until we found a little cove and accidentally chewed off a chunk of the prop on some rocks. Oops.

Then the boat wouldn’t start up again. So with a broken prop and flooded engine we “decided” to drift for awhile. Turned out to be a blast. The little boys took turns jumping off the back of the boat. Hold that. Just about every body took turns jumping off the back of the boat. The water was fabulous. We broke out all the delicious snacks stored in the cooler and generally had a great time sunbathing. The engine did eventually roar back to life and we decided to be brave and try exploring some more rather than heading to the launch.

Somewhere along the ride, we managed to lose all the air in the big tube and then Mark clipped his eyebrow on the windshield, causing a nice gash and some blood. But we did eventually find a little shoreline and Bryan skied so all was not lost. My favorite part though, was being “shipwrecked” out there when the engine wouldn’t start and just floating around in the water for awhile. It was a Gilligan’s Island adventure.
