I had a convicting conversation the other day with a friend and colleague who is not a citizen of this country but has been living and working here for eight years. She invests and believes in the “American dream” more faithfully than many full fledged Americans. It was humbling to realize that the citizens of this country squander their freedoms, waste their resources, and spend altogether way too much time and energy bickering amongst themselves. We do not present a united front to the world. We lack pride in our heritage and our nation. And the person who reminded me of this, who was saddened by it, doesn’t even get to vote. Take a look at the link below. Regardless of who you intend to vote for this year, I found those song inspirational and moving.
